Radiant heating specialists since 1995

Radiant heating for floors and ceilings.

Electric radiant heating for ceilings, floors and specialist spaces. Ron helps you choose a suitable system, with specified quotes and installation guidance for your electrician.

Heating systems

Heating to suit your floor, ceiling and project.

Start with where the heat will go. The right system depends on the ceiling or floor finish, and whether the room is part of a new build or a renovation.

Ceiling heating

Safe-t-FLEX carbon film sits above the plasterboard and turns the ceiling into a gentle radiant heater. Nothing is visible once the ceiling is finished.

  • Suits new builds, extensions and ceilings being replaced
  • Controls are specified to suit your rooms and project
  • No wall heaters or floor space taken up

Looking for ceiling-mounted panels instead? They are a separate product, listed under commercial and specialist spaces below.

Floor heating

Choose by floor finish. Carbon film and heating cable are different systems, each suited to a different build-up.

Commercial and specialist spaces

These are separate products from carbon film. They mount on or below the ceiling, high in large spaces, or on a wall.

How it works

See where carbon-film heating goes.

Carbon film is a thin heating element hidden in the ceiling or under the floor. It warms people, floors and furnishings directly, rather than relying on moving warm air around the room.

Ceiling heating

  1. Insulation between the joists keeps the warmth directed down.
  2. Ceiling joists carry the film across their underside.
  3. Safe-t-FLEX carbon film, the thin heating element.
  4. Plasterboard ceiling, finished as normal.

Because the film goes in before the plasterboard, ceiling heating is planned into new builds, extensions or ceiling replacements.

Under timber floors

  1. Timber or laminate floor, laid as a floating floor.
  2. Polythene sheet, or the flooring maker's recommended layer.
  3. Safe-t-FLEX carbon film, the thin heating element.
  4. Foam underlay insulates the film from below.
  5. Subfloor: a level concrete slab or boarded timber floor.

The film is thin and laid dry, with no screed or glue. Ron confirms the build-up for your floor finish.

Underfloor heating in Perth and South West WA

CBS supplies four electric underfloor systems, chosen by floor finish: ultra-thin Safe-t-WIRE cable where floor height is limited, under-tile cable in the screed beneath new tiles, carbon film under carpet or floating timber, and electric in-slab cable for a new concrete slab. Ron specifies the system, quantities and controls for each project.

CBS products can be supplied Australia-wide, with a specified quote and installation guide. Installation arrangements are separate: they depend on the location and the project, and are discussed case by case.
